Mercury offers radically different banking designed to help you accomplish everything you want with your money. Read on to hear about ways we’ve upgraded your experience this month.

💫 File 1099s with zero stress

1099 filing screen in Mercury showing forms and their status, along with a close-up view of one 1099 form and its total payout.

Starting on January 1, 2026, you’ll be able to file 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC forms directly in Mercury. And you can start preparing those filings today in the new Taxes section under Payments. From there, you can prep 1099 filings for contractors and vendors for free, collect and manage W-9s in one place, and access essential tax documents as they become available.

Not sure if you need to file 1099s?
If your business paid $600 or more to non-employees, or as little as $10 to recipients for royalties, you’ll likely need to file a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC. Learn more about form requirements on the IRS website.

When you’re ready, you can file for $5 per form, or get unlimited filings with a Plus or Pro subscription.

🚀 Get paid in seconds, 24/7/365

A visual graphic depicting the Mercury logo in the center with logos from payment processing platforms radiating outward in concentric circles, illustrating their link.

With real-time payments (RTP), you can receive payments in seconds, even outside of banking hours. This includes faster payments from participating banks as well as payment processors like Stripe, Amazon, and Square.

RTP is currently available to customers with accounts on Column, N.A. To find out which partner bank your account is on, log in and go to the “Accounts” page, click on an account to view its details, and you’ll see the partner bank on the right-hand side of the screen.

If you don’t have an account on Column, N.A. yet, you can join our waitlist to kick off the process

☑️ Take categorization off your to-do list

Get back hours spent categorizing transactions and minimize manual errors before they happen. Mercury now learns from your categorization history to automatically apply GL codes to your transactions, so you have one less thing to do.

This feature is only available to Mercury customers with enriched accounting integrations.

🧾 Watch receipts file themselves

You can now create Gmail rules to auto-forward merchant emails to [email protected], and we’ll match them to the right transactions — no manual upload required. And if you want to save even more time, turn on global matching to automatically attach receipts to any transaction you have access to, including your team’s card spend.

Editing transactions just got even less time-consuming. Now, you can select multiple at once to apply categories and GL codes, add attachments and notes — all in a few clicks.

🧩 Keep invoicing in sync

A visual graphic showing “Mercury API Invoicing” with curved lines and dots flowing out from it, representing seamless integration and the exchange of data.

Our Invoicing API connects to your CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools or internal systems to automatically create, send, and track invoices at scale. Sending invoices and handling billing just got a lot smoother.

Ready to get started? Subscribe to Mercury Plus or Pro through your “Plan & Billing” page to access the Invoicing API. Plus subscribers can create up to 500 invoices per month, and Pro subscribers can create unlimited invoices.

🔂 Dial in your auto-transfers

Flowchart representing funds coming into an income account, which are automatically divided into three separate transfers to a payroll account, a tax account, and an expense account

Manually moving money between accounts? Not anymore. With improved auto transfers, you can create rules that move funds automatically — by time, balance, or fixed amount. Use them to consolidate income, automate your budget, set aside taxes, or whatever fits your needs.

The update also introduces a cleaner UI, new rule types, and increased flexibility, enabling you to automate your finances without the mental overhead. Available now for Business and Mercury Personal users.
