Mercury offers radically different banking designed to help you accomplish everything you want with your money. Read on to hear about ways we’ve upgraded your experience this month.

🗓️ File 1099s right in your account

If your business paid a vendor or contractor more than $600 in 2025, you may need to file a 1099, which you can now do directly inside your Mercury account without any separate tools or exports.

Just head to the new Taxes section under Payments in your Mercury dashboard, where you can manage all your recipient profiles and request W-9s, auto-fill 1099 forms with existing payment data, file federal and state 1099 forms, and even track, edit, void, or resubmit forms. Mercury Plus and Pro subscribers can even file federal and state 1099-NECs and MISCs for free.

Whether you’re managing your personal finances, sharing them with a partner, or investing idle cash, Mercury Personal gives you a radically different way to manage, move, and grow your money — for one all-inclusive subscription of $240/year.

We designed Mercury Personal around user requests (like having a competitive APY on savings accounts) and have been adding new features since its launch. And if you’re already a Mercury Business customer, switching between accounts happens with a single click. Apply for Mercury Personal today.

👤 Custom roles for how your business works

No two businesses are the same, but banking has traditionally locked you into a one-size-fits-all approach to roles and permissions. With Mercury, you can now create and reuse custom roles to fine-tune exactly what your team can access and what actions they can take. We’ve also added a new Approvals permission so teammates who aren’t full admins can approve payments and reduce bottlenecks.

📱 x 🧾 Invoice tracking on your phone

Running your business on the go just got a little easier. Now, you can track invoices you’ve sent from your account right in your Mercury app. Just head to the Move Money tab in the mobile app (you'll need the most recent version), and you’ll be able to send payment links and track invoices in one place.

🧮 Grouping transactions into categories

Grouping transactions into specific categories in your Mercury account gives you another layer of financial insight. Even if you haven’t connected your accounting software yet, you can still use categories to know exactly what your money is doing and where it’s going.

🍿 Bite-sized improvements

  • In December, Payment Requests moved to the Invoicing Page, a single place where you can create and send invoices, request payments via link, and track all your outstanding payments.
  • Easily create auto-transfer rules with natural language. Just describe the money movement you want to automate, and AI will create a custom rule you can activate with one click.
  • We recently launched curated bundles: groups of perks, discounts, and deals on the tools you use every day, so you save money across your business.
