We support thousands of crypto and web3 startups, DAOs, and funds. However, we do not currently support Money Services Businesses or exchanges.

We also can’t work with businesses that sell any of the following things:
  • Cannabis, CBD, or cannabis-derived products
  • Firearms, weapons, or ammunition
  • Tobacco, e-cigarettes, or e-liquids
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Adult entertainment
  • Illegal drugs
  • Other items that are illegal in the U.S.

We don’t have express restrictions on buying crypto through your Mercury account. When using Mercury, wires sent through your account will include your business name as the wire sender, which helps crypto exchanges (e.g., Gemini, Coinbase) process and credit wires.

No, not at this time. Mercury accounts can currently only hold fiat.

Yes, security is a top priority at Mercury. Here are some measures we take to ensure your security:
  • Require HTTPS on all pages, and use HSTS to ensure browsers only ever connect to Mercury over a secure connection.
  • Employ a third party to perform penetration testing each year to check for vulnerabilities.
  • Hash and store all passwords with the bcrypt algorithm — never as plaintext.
  • Use time-based one-time passwords for two-factor authentication. We never send authentication codes via insecure channels like SMS.
  • Encrypt our database and all uploaded images, with additional encryption for sensitive data like social security numbers.
  • Never store your debit or credit card numbers.

Your physical debit card will arrive in a white envelope to your business address after your account is approved. You can also create and use virtual debit cards immediately.

Yes, we’re proud to support U.S. companies founded by people across the globe. Customers must be formed and registered in the United States or a U.S. territory, must have some type of existing or planned operations in the U.S., and have a U.S. or international address for their principal place of business. This can be a residential address, but may not be a registered agent, P.O. box, or UPS box address.We cannot currently support accounts for business with founders or financial controllers living in the countries and regions listed here.We’d love to support residents of more countries over time, so let us know at [email protected] if you live in one of the above countries and we’ll let you know if anything changes.

Mercury business banking is free to use. There are no account minimums, overdraft fees, monthly fees, or account opening fees. However, certain advanced features may incur fees. These include: making mass payments on our API, accessing Mercury Treasury account management, making non-USD business debit or credit card transactions, exchanging money in non-USD currencies, and sending USD internationally with optional premium processing. Customers have the option to select a paid plan (starting at $35/month) for access to these advanced payment workflows, including more invoicing features, our enriched NetSuite automations, and reimbursing out-of-pocket expenses for more than 5 active users per month. Our business checking and savings bank accounts are free for everyone. Anyone can send payments from their Mercury account without subscribing to a paid plan. When you're ready, you can upgrade to access the advanced features at the price point that makes sense for your company and volume of business.
