Starting today, Mercury Personal is no longer gated behind a waitlist. So, whether you’re managing your finances on your own, sharing them with a partner, or investing idle cash, you now have a platform designed to make it all feel seamless. And, if you’re already a Mercury business customer and U.S. resident, switching between personal and business accounts happens with a single click.
What we’ve introduced since the launch
At the debut of Mercury Personal, the number of seats in the product was limited, providing us with the opportunity to learn from early users and refine the product based on their feedback. Here are a few ways we’ve expanded and fine-tuned since.
One joint account for up to four people
Managing money is rarely a solitary endeavor, and that rang true for many of our early Mercury Personal users, so we introduced joint accounts. This allowed individuals to share ownership with spouses, roommates, or other important people in their lives. Now, customers can easily run a household, share expenses, and build their futures together. Joint accounts now also include access to Mercury Invest for two account owners. Additionally, with view-only access, account owners can share visibility with financial advisors and bookkeepers. Meanwhile, cards with custom spend limits allow them to grant others permission to cover everyday expenses.

Mercury Invest
We also integrated investing into your Mercury Personal account with the launch of portfolios on Mercury Invest. With banking and the option to invest in one place, customers no longer have to manually transfer funds to an external brokerage account — or even toggle between apps to put their money to work. Onboarding is quick and simple: Answer a few questions about your goals and risk tolerance, and then select your preferred mix of low-cost ETFs. Those ETFs track the U.S. stock market and Treasury bills, providing customers with a straightforward way to multiply their money.

Banking across borders
Our customers are moving money around the globe, so we wanted to make sure Mercury Personal doesn’t limit them. You can send money in over 40 currencies to more than 200 countries and regions. And when you send those wires in USD, you pay nothing extra. A flat FX fee of 1% is charged on non-USD wires, so you never have to guess what your rate will be. When traveling, you can withdraw cash from ATMs with your debit card and get any fees reimbursed.

And, one pivotal piece we’ve offered since the start
While we’ve been adding new features and refining the details, one part of Mercury Personal has been in place — and well-loved — since the very beginning: our high-yield savings account. Mercury Personal was designed around the top requests we received from prospective users, with a competitive APY at the very top. That hasn’t changed, and it continues to be one of the most impactful pieces of the product experience.
Savings that work smarter
Whatever you’re saving for, it’s time your savings account actually helped you get there. An emergency cushion, next year’s taxes, a future investment, or a trip you’ve been planning. With Mercury Personal, you can create dedicated savings accounts for each goal and earn 3.50% APY with no minimums. Each account is fully operational — you can send and receive payments directly, not just park cash. And with custom auto-transfer rules, you can set your strategy to cruise control and know your savings are growing in the background. Your money stays liquid, grows automatically, and helps offset your subscription: If you have $7,000 balance in your savings account, you’ll earn more than $240 annually at the current APY, covering the cost of your subscription.

This is still the beginning. Personal banking shouldn’t feel outdated, rigid, or impersonal — and we don’t think it has to. We’re building toward a smarter, more intuitive product. One that’s designed around the needs and wants of real people — not old systems.
