📑 Quickly request W-9 tax documents

Organizing your 1099 filing this tax season just got simpler. Now you can quickly request W-9s and other tax documents from your vendors, contractors, and freelancers individually or in bulk, save those documents for future reference, and download essential tax data in just a few clicks. This is handy if you paid more than $600 to any contractor, freelancer, or vendor in 2024 because you’ll need their tax documents to file your 1099 form(s) on time.

For specific guidance on your tax filing obligations, please consult with a qualified tax professional. Mercury does not provide tax advice. Tax regulations can be complex and vary based on individual circumstances, so it's important to seek personalized advice from an expert who can assess your unique situation.1 Ready to get started? Read our recent blog post on first-time tips for your 1099 filing.

Head to your Recipients page and select who you need documents from, and they’ll receive a secure invitation to upload their business info. When it’s time to file 1099s, simply click “Export” to download everything you need for your tax software or IRS submission. Check out our help center article to learn more about how this works. Or, try it on our demo site.

Bite-sized improvements:

  • Waive a card spend policy: For predictable recurring expenses like subscriptions, a receipt isn’t always necessary. For cases like these, you now have the ability to exempt select merchants from your receipt policy.
  • One-time receipt policy dismissals: If you or a team member loses or is unable to provide the receipt for a card transaction, you can now dismiss the requirement for that transaction.
