If you have questions, we have answers

Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank — but we're working toward becoming one. In April 2026, we received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish Mercury Bank, N.A. Today, we build software to help startups and small businesses run their financial operations, and we partner with regulated banks to hold and safeguard your funds. Banking services on Mercury are provided by our partner banks, Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC. When you open a Mercury account, your funds are held at one of these FDIC-insured banks or their sweep networks. Banking details for each deposit account are available in the Mercury dashboard and on account statements so you can see exactly where your money is held. We're now in the bank organization phase, working toward final authorization from the OCC and pending approvals from the FDIC and the Federal Reserve. Nothing changes for customers in the meantime — you’ll continue using Mercury exactly as you do today.

For businesses looking to manage banking and spend in one platform, Mercury can reduce the need to maintain separate banking and spend-management tools. Mercury includes checking and savings accounts, corporate cards, budgets, approval rules, receipt capture, and reimbursements in one place.

Mercury Spend is included for all Mercury business banking customers, and is also available standalone for teams that bank elsewhere. A major advantage comes from banking and spend living together — so the fuller picture arrives when your operating cash is on Mercury too.

Both automate the work. Ramp offers greater depth in ERP and procurement workflow configurability, and teams with complex approval chains may prefer it. Mercury connects to QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite, applies categorization rules automatically, and learns from your history — and because payments originate from your own account, reconciliation starts already matched.

Mercury's IO card unlocks 1.5% cashback on credit card spend, with startup-friendly limits and no personal guarantee. Ramp earns 1.5% on eligible card purchases and bill payments, with more ways to redeem — statement credits, deposits, gift cards, airline and hotel points, charitable donations, or paying down your Ramp subscription.

Yes, using IO may help your company establish a strong credit history and improve your business credit score. Mercury reports IO payment history to Experian, Equifax and Dun & Bradstreet, three major business credit bureaus. Reporting your IO payments can help your company establish a strong credit history, improve your credit score, and open doors to more opportunities for growth and financing.

Experience radically different banking

Disclaimers and footnotes
