Mercury is engineered to make sure you don’t lose sleep thinking about banking*. We’re constantly innovating and iterating our product because we believe your banking tasks should feel simpler, more intuitive, and maybe even a little enjoyable. Keep reading to discover the most recent updates to your banking experience.

🪄 Dim the lights with iOS dark mode

Apple users rejoice — dark mode for the Mercury iOS app is seeing the light at last.

Although we successfully launched the Android version last year, it wasn’t until recently that our iOS color system had a natural way of handling its own adoption of a darker theme. These colors had been classified by color names (e.g., “Monochrome/White”) — meaning the only way to achieve dark mode would have been to invert our palette, creating gauche yellows against drab backgrounds.

Instead, our designers and engineers created a token-based, semantic color system grouped by usage (e.g., “Background/Primary”) to accommodate a full range of shades for backgrounds, surfaces, text, icons, and the like. This updated system allows us to make simple tweaks on individual colors and apply those changes universally across the app for a consistent, on-brand experience.

A true collaboration between design and engineering, this long-awaited feature is finally here — and we’re thrilled to share it with you. So whether you find it easier on the eyes or are just after a slicker look and feel, it’s our pleasure to welcome you to the dark side (of Mercury iOS).

📈 Watch your balance dance

Seen your Mercury balance graph lately? It’s more dynamic than ever — customize your data view to different intervals, track daily changes with the tooltip, and watch as your money literally scales with you.

🧾 Attach receipts and invoices to your Payment Requests

If you can download your Payment Requests as PDFs, you should be able to upload PDFs to them too. Try it out the next time you create a Request by uploading an accompanying PDF file — like an invoice or a receipt — that you can name whatever you want. Once the request is sent, your recipient will be able to download the PDF when viewing the payment link.

🔐 Regain access to your account with a faster 2FA reset flow

No more jumping through hoops to reset your two-factor authentication. If you’re a company owner, just click the “Reset” link on the Verify Login screen to record a video of yourself and we’ll let you reset your factors within one business day. For all other users, clicking the “Reset” link” will send a notification to your company admins, who will be able to directly approve your reset request.
